Treatment Spotlight: The Manhattan Lift

MSB_Manhatblog

We all love talking about the results from a spectacular facial, but what about the facial itself? Lee, our social media manager, puts herself at the hands of the Me Skin and Body experts to talk about what its actually like the get one of our specialised treatments. This month - The Manhattan Lift:

Writing about treatments is one thing, but experiencing them is another - And the benefits of the Manhattan Lift (Plumping, brightening, line reducing) definitely had me interested when featuring it these past months. So when Kate included one in my personalised regime, I couldn't wait!

Starting as always with a gentle cleanse, Kate gladly explains to me why the Manhattan Lift is such a fantastic treatment on the menu:

“Having that combination of machine exfoliation and chemical exfoliation, it’s a super effective rejuvenation of the skin - And since we can control the level for both the peel and the abrasiveness of the micro, we can accommodate most skin types which is, of course, essential for great results”

Your skin is then followed by a quick swipe of an oil removing solution, which Kate explains not only helps the micro tool glide unimpeded and give the best results, but also allows the therapist to see any reaction in the skin that may indicate sensitivity.

The sensation of micro is hard to describe, as there is nothing quite like it - A gentle suction pulls the skin in to allow the crystals to do their thing, which feels like a gentle pumice. I am a glutton for treatments that ‘feel’ like they are working - which micro definitely satisfies. For me, there was no irritation, just a mild stimulation. Nothing to doze off to, but nothing to whince over! Kate is quick to move the tool upwards across my face with long sweeps, but still taking time to focus on my trouble spots like my congested jawline. At one point, she stops to change the tip:

“Different heads offer different levels of exfoliation. So for the majority of your face I’ve used a standard head as we know you don’t have particularly sensitive skin, but for areas like around the nose and eyes, a gentler head is more ideal. For some, this head would be what we would use the entire time, which would exfoliate without aggravating”

Afterwards, I feel flush but fresh, no doubt due to the stimulation of blood - “It also stimulates lymphatic drainage” Kate adds when I point this out. She quickly applies the lactic peel. Here, I felt the classic ‘bite’ along my jawline, where the micro has cleared the way for the peel to get to work on that congestion. The sensation is quick to disappear however, and the peel is neutralised and followed by a lush hydrating mask.

By this point, my skin has been thoroughly treated but remains feeling calm and comfortable. Any mild irritation is quickly forgotten however, as Kate gives a hand and arm massage (Extra wonderful if you’re like me and on a computer all day - Your wrists and palms will love it!) and has me ready to doze off with a hot towel removal of the mask. Your MSB therapist will then apply a suitable serum (we are a big fan of Aspects Extreme B17 for my skin which also makes up part of my home care) and protect all that work with SPF.

Afterwards, I’m released back into the world feeling calm and relaxed. When I finally touch my face later that night to cleanse, I can’t stop! My nose and upper cheeks feel smooth and plump, and my serums and moisturiser sink into my skin effortlessly. That week, I notice my jawline is less inflamed and post inflammatory pigmentation appears reduced. Even at 24, my eye area seems ‘filled’ and makeup sits on the area beautifully.

Overall: I can’t wait for my next treatment. The Manhattan Lift is a powerful option for skin that needs that needs a deep cleanse and a variety of benefits. I definitely recommend having a chat next time you visit to see if the treatment is ideal for your skin regime!
