Cutera Excel V
Cutera Excel V is a medical-grade dual wavelength laser system used to treat vascular and pigmentary skin concerns.
At Me Skin & Body, we use Excel V to target visible blood vessels, diffuse redness, rosacea, pigmentation irregularities and certain inflammatory skin conditions.
The laser works by delivering controlled light energy to specific chromophores within the skin, allowing us to selectively target haemoglobin and pigment without damaging surrounding tissue.
Treatment is selected and adjusted based on skin type, vascular presentation and clinical indication.
How Excel V works
Excel V uses dual wavelengths (532nm and 1064nm) to treat both superficial and deeper vascular and pigmentary concerns.
The laser energy is absorbed by haemoglobin within visible vessels or by pigment within the skin. This causes controlled heating and subsequent breakdown of the targeted structure, which is then naturally cleared by the body over time.
Different settings and wavelengths are used depending on the depth and type of concern being treated.
Clinical indications
Excel V is used to treat a range of vascular and pigment-related conditions, including:
Facial redness and erythema
Rosacea (vascular component)
Broken capillaries (telangiectasia)
Diffuse flushing and persistent redness
Spider veins (facial and body areas)
Vascular lesions such as angiomas
Pigmentation irregularities (selected cases)
Post-inflammatory redness
Skin tone unevenness related to vascular changes
Suitability is always determined following clinical assessment.
Treatment approach at Me Skin & Body
Excel V is never used in isolation.
At Me Skin & Body, vascular and pigment laser treatments are integrated into a broader skin management plan. This may include barrier support strategies, professional skincare and adjunct treatments depending on skin presentation.
Treatment parameters are adjusted based on:
Skin sensitivity
Vascular depth and density
Underlying skin condition
Previous treatment history
Response to prior sessions
This allows for a controlled, progressive improvement in skin appearance over time.
What to expect
Treatment sensation varies depending on the area and settings used, and is commonly described as a brief snapping or heat sensation.
Post-treatment effects may include temporary warmth, redness, bruising, crusting or mild swelling, particularly in more reactive or vascular skin types.
These effects typically settle within a short period, depending on treatment intensity.
Results develop progressively, with vascular reduction and skin tone improvement occurring over a series of treatments.
Results
Excel V is a progressive treatment.
Outcomes may include:
Reduction in visible vascularity
Improvement in diffuse redness
More even skin tone
Reduction in flushing intensity (in suitable cases)
Improved overall skin clarity
Multiple sessions are typically required for optimal clinical response, depending on severity and skin behaviour.
Important considerations
Vascular and pigmentary conditions are often chronic and multifactorial. While Excel V can significantly improve visible symptoms, maintenance or combination therapy may be required depending on individual skin response.
Treatment suitability is confirmed during consultation to ensure appropriate device selection and parameter settings.
Clinical note
Excel V is selected when vascular or pigmentary pathology is a primary contributing factor to skin presentation.
In many cases, it is used alongside other modalities such as skin needling, clinical facials or barrier-focused skincare to support overall skin function and stability.
The Cutera Excel V Laser System uses the most advanced laser technology for treating vascular skin conditions such as Rosacea, spider veins and Telangiectasia and pigmented lesions including sunspots.
The Cutera Excel V Laser System uses a high power green laser to target abnormal blood vessels and pigment in the skin.
To ensure client comfort, Excel V uses new cooling technologies which produce continuous cooling before, during and after the laser pulse.
A thorough consultation is necessary to determine suitability for this treatment.
